Welcome to Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Coaching Hub Podcast.
Led by Dr Christian Edwards, the Coaching Hub is a space where cutting-edge research is developed and partnerships with National and International Government Bodies are established, offering consultancy services and coach education courses.
In each episode, our guests will share their knowledge and experiences and have research-informed conversations with Dr Manuel Santos, Dr Mike Castle and Dr Oli Lum, about the practical implications of their work in the coaching field.

Dr Manuel Santos is a Lecturer in Sport Coaching at Cardiff Metropolitan University. Manuel's thesis explored the coaching practice of Head Coaches across multiple sports, using an Action Research design to develop their creative practice. Dr Santos is the Head Coach of Cardiff Met's BUCS Volleyball teams.
The 'orchestrator' of the Sports Coaching Hub Podcast, Manuel leads the team through the planning, delivery and launching of each and every episode!
Mike Castle is a Learning Developer (Curriculum) at Cardiff Metropolitan University. A Doctor in Sport Coaching, Mike's thesis explored processes of how coaches learn. Mike is a Lawn Tennis Association Level 4 Senior Performance Coach, and currently acts as the Head Coach of Cardiff Met's BUCS Tennis Teams.
Oli Lum is a Lecturer in Sport Coaching at Cardiff Metropolitan University, holding a PhD completed at the University through the ESRC Wales Doctoral Training Pathway scheme.
Oli is Social Media Editor for the Sports Coaching Review, and is also Co-Host of the highly successful podcast 'The Sunday Plodcast', providing insight into the lives of elite runners and running coaches.
